Night fallen over a wave tossed sea
Agate is probably my favourite all round gem-the sheer variety of colour, patterns and formations is breathtaking and no matter how many I see they still manage to surprise me with a pleasantly reliable regularity, and every once in awhile draw a gasp of delight. This specimen from Russia was one of them, bringing to mind a bay in a coast with crashing waves, and far away across the water a cone shaped stratovolcano with the lights of a town glinting at its foot.
